As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, I thought that it would be the appropriate time to reflect on the things that we are thankful for. We are grateful for the Freedom that we have living in the USA and our military servicemen and women who are standing and have stood for that Freedom.

As a company, we are blessed to celebrate our 50th year in business. During this past third quarter, 355 fleets employing nearly 9,100 trucks were taken off the road due to fleet bankruptcies. We have avoided this fate due to our on-going relations and loyalty of our customer base; we are very thankful for their commitment. These long-term relationships have allowed us the opportunity to provide profitable and consistent lanes to our drivers with the freedom to spend time with their families.

We are grateful for the financial ability and commitment to reinvest into the Lease Purchase Program. By the end of the year; 15 newer power units, 9 used trailers, and 23 new trailers will be added.

Lastly, we feel very blessed to have a dedicated and committed Staff, Terminal Managers, Dispatchers and Drivers. We want to wish you and your family a very blessed and safe Thanksgiving.

Job Well Done

We have entered into the 10th week of Lane Inspections and it is starting to make a difference in achieving our vision of becoming the "Best of the Best".

We especially want to give a special thanks to Emmanuel Innis (Central), Randy Ward (Canton), Eric Price (Cleveland), and Adrian Santiago (Gary) whom received a $100 bonus for their clean roadside inspection.

Thank you again for your cooperation and making this a successful program!! Also our CSA trend in driver fitness, unsafe driving, and HOS continue to point in the right downward direction.

Lane Inspections
As most of you are aware, NST has rolled out a Lane Inspection procedure and policy. This change was needed to facilitate the immediate improvements needed in our Maintenance CSA score. We appreciate your assistance and cooperation in making this program be successful. We will provide you with a more in depth explanation at the Safety Meetings (Dates are listed below).
Future Coming Attractions

Northern Steel Transport signed national pricing contacts with Pilot and Love's. Effective October 31, we will be passing on $.10/gallon to you for every gallon of diesel you purchase at one of their stations and that amount will be added to your weekly settlement.

One of our company visions is to have a state-of-the-art maintenance shop in Toledo which can provide you with discounted pricing, flexibility of scheduling your service, and quality workmanship. Starting in November, you will see the vision come to life.

Also, we are proud to announce the addition of two very qualified mechanics which will provide longer shop hours, skilled workmanship, and more availability. When you are in Toledo please give a warm welcome to Kevin Morgan and John Baer.

Overweight Permits:
Beginning November 10th, all overweight load permits must be turned in with the respective load delivery confirmation paperwork. The pro number must be written at the top of the permit to specify the load in which the permit was used. Note: Indiana and Ohio trip permits are only good for one load, regardless of the dates specified. Do not use a trip permit for multiple loads. Overweight loads that are turned in without respective permits will not be paid or reimbursed. There were five carriers in the last three months that have had their permits privileges suspended - WE DO NOT WANT TO BE THE NEXT! Contact Yvonne or Trina with questions.

Roadside Violations

The number one reason for roadside violations is brakes. Lights are number two. This can be eliminated by proper pre-trip inspections and brake adjustments.

For every roadside inspection, we had two violations last month. Take that into effect, it means that we had 6 roadsides with 24 total violations and 5 with clean inspections and no violations.

Business Meetings

The next set of meetings will occur in January.

The schedule is as follows:
Saturday, January 10th - Toledo & Mansfield
Saturday, January 17th - Lake Station & Indianapolis
Saturday, January 24th - Cleveland & Canton

The next round of meetings will start May 9th. We will continue with the Quarterly time-frame until we do become the "Best of the Best".
